Artyom Liss Exhibiting Now

Artyom Liss

I am a news journalist, a photographer, a motorcyclist, and, above all, a storyteller.

My photography began at work, as a means to illustrate my stories from war zones, disaster areas and exotic locations all over the world.

But I like to think I’ve now gone beyond just making a journalistic record of the world.

I look for light, characters and geometric shapes, -+ and it’s always a joy to discover something visually new. I use a similar approach for my landscapes: I try to find something that goes beyond just a pretty picture.

Photography gives me a zen sense of meditation and being “in the zone”. When I look at the world though a viewfinder, it feels like I observe life from a different plane. Little things which may appear banal, even dull, suddenly take on a whole new meaning and interest.

Most of the images in this exhibition were shot on my travels to places like Iceland, America’s Southwest, Morocco and Russia. Some were taken much closer to home, – in Kent, Sussex or London.

A lot of these images appear in my book, “Two In a Mustang, to Say Nothing of the Camera”, which is available on Amazon & at Javabean Cafe https://www.amazon.co.uk/Two-Mustang-Say-Nothing-Camera-ebook/dp/B071G5KFPT/ref=la_B071WXMX2T_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1500194340&sr=1-1
